all-sky gravitational wave search on O3 1.07(GW-opencl-vacidia-2) was given to me 2 times and appeared to hang at 49.5% completion ended task for the first one. only to see it "hang" only 5min later on the same file at 49.5%.

If you are running the stock application, the task and app is NOT 'hanging'. It is actually processing on the cpu at the 49.5% and 99.5% completion stages.
Please read through the apps dedicated thread here.
New Improved Gravational Wave App - Discussion

Hi Zettanova, Welcome to Einstein@Home.
Seeing as you have just joined, the thread recommended by Keith is more likely to confuse rather than help.
There is an announcement thread in the Technical News Forum for when the current O3ASHF1 gravity wave search first commenced (back in June last year) if you want to get some background for the current situation. There is a more up-to-date post by Bernd Machenschalk if you go to the main 'NEWS' section when you first login. The most recent news item (dated 16 Jan 2024) has a comment from Bernd which explains about each task being split into two halves in order to allow GPUs with 4GB VRAM to be able to run them.
You need to understand that each 'half-task' needs significant CPU post-processing (referred to as the 'recalc' step) and this is why the progress counter stops at 49.5%. When that 'recalc' finishes, the counter will jump to 50.00% and shortly after that (as the GPU is activated again) will drop to 49.50% and then steadily increase from there all the way to 99.50% where there is a further post-processing pause where, once again, only the CPU is involved. When that completes, the counter will jump to 100%, the completed results will be uploaded and a new task will start.
I hope this helps you to understand what is happening.
Cheers,
Gary.
